Start Energia e Inovação
Solar system comodato · no down payment · Brasília and the surrounding region

Solar system comodato: your power bill goes down, and you don't invest anything.

Installation and maintenance of the system are covered by Start for the entire contract term. You pay a monthly fee — calculated from the installed system's generation, compared with your current bill — and you can buy the equipment at any time, through a progressive discount table that's the same for every contract; if you'd rather not buy, the system becomes yours at the end of the 14-year contract term.

Contract terms: annual adjustment by the IGP-M index, set in the contract; purchase available at any time, through a progressive discount table that's the same for every contract — without a purchase, the system becomes yours at the end of the 14 years. "Up to 40%" is the observed ceiling, calculated from the system's generation — it varies with the size and characteristics of the comodato system, and is not the number for your specific case. The exact monthly fee, compared directly with your current bill, comes in writing before any contract.

This is not financing, and it isn't a traditional rental either: it's a comodato — a free loan of the equipment under Brazilian law — with a contract, a term and clear rules. The equipment belongs to Start for as long as the contract lasts — which is exactly why installation, maintenance and warranty are on us. No system zeroes out your bill — grid-availability and public-lighting charges remain.

Why there's a comodato offer

Not everyone wants — or can — tie up capital in owning a system.

Buying a photovoltaic system is the right path for anyone who wants the asset in their own name from day one. But that requires a down payment, or credit approval to finance it, and it ties up a significant amount for years. Comodato exists for anyone who'd rather not do that right now — without giving up on lowering the power bill, though with smaller savings than a purchase: comodato reduces the bill by up to 40%, depending on the system's generation, while a purchase, once paid off, eliminates the power bill entirely.

Under comodato, the system remains Start's property throughout the contract. That's why maintenance and the warranty stay with us: as long as the system is ours, keeping it running well is in our interest too — it's the energy it generates that sustains the business.

The offer, in detail

How the comodato works, term by term

No invented numbers: the contractual percentages (adjustment, termination penalty, purchase table) are fixed; the amounts in reais depend on your system's generation and come in writing before any signature.

Who it makes sense for

  • Anyone who'd rather not tie up capital in a long-term asset.
  • Businesses that prefer to treat energy as a monthly expense, not an investment.
  • Anyone who wants to lower the bill now and decide later, without pressure, whether to own the system.

*UC: Unidade Consumidora, Neoenergia's registration for the property. The savings only exist if the monthly fee lands below what you currently pay for power — we run that number for your case, in writing, before proposing anything.

Step 01

You send us the amount of your last bill and we calculate whether the monthly fee fits below it.

Step 02

Site visit, signed generation report, and the comodato proposal with every number for your case.

Step 03

Comodato contract, installation with an ART filing, and utility approval with Neoenergia, handled by us.

Step 04

The system is ours, maintenance and warranty stay on us, and generation is monitored.

A comodato is the free loan of the equipment: the system stays Start's property, loaned to you under comodato for the contract term. The monthly fee is not payment for using the equipment — it covers installation, maintenance, warranty and monitoring of the system throughout the contract; it isn't financing or an installment purchase of the equipment either. The definitive legal and tax classification of this contract is under validation; the final terms will be those of the signed contract, not those on this page. Terms are subject to review and to the rules in effect at the time of contracting.

Why we make a point of keeping the system running

Keeping the system running is in our interest too, not just yours

With comodato, the equipment remains Start's property. For as long as the contract lasts, it's the energy this system generates that sustains the business for us — which is why maintenance stays on us for the full term of the contract, not just the first few months. The exact terms of warranty and maintenance, including what happens in the event of succession or transfer of the contract, are set out in the signed agreement — this section explains the reasoning, it doesn't replace the contract clause.

And before any contract: if the monthly fee doesn't land below your current bill, we say so in the calculation and don't propose anything.

How to choose

Choose comodato if what's holding you back today is the down payment, credit, or tying up capital. Buy if you already have the funds available and want the asset in your name from day one — buying tends to be the better deal. Either way, the exact number for your case is calculated before any contract.

What might be holding you back right now

The questions we'd rather answer first

"Isn't this the same thing as financing?"

No. It's a comodato of equipment that stays ours

With financing, the system is yours from the start and you pay installments on an asset you own. With comodato, the equipment belongs to Start for the duration of the contract — which is why maintenance and the warranty stay with us, not you.

"What if I want to move?"

Transfer and termination terms are set out in the contract

Early termination carries a 40% penalty on the project value, prorated by the time remaining to complete 3 years of contract — the number for your case comes in the contract, before installation, never after.

"Who stays responsible for the power bill at Neoenergia?"

Ownership of the utility account stays with you

It never passes to Start. What's in Start's name, for as long as the contract lasts, is the comodato contract and the installed equipment.

"What if I want to buy the system later on?"

There's a progressive discount table — and it's the same for every contract

You can buy the system at any point during the comodato. The table applies a 7% discount per full year of contract (14% in year 2, 21% in year 3, and so on) on the system's value as locked in the contract — the same table for every client, not a case-by-case calculation. If you don't exercise the purchase, the system automatically becomes yours at the end of the 14-year contract.

Would rather own the system outright?

You can also buy the system, with a cash discount.

No monthly fee — the equipment is yours from the moment it's installed, with options to pay in cash, by card, or financed over up to 72 months. See how the purchase option works.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about the comodato

How does the comodato actually work?

Start installs the system on your roof, with no down payment from you. You pay a monthly fee — calculated from the system's generation — and installation and maintenance are covered by us, for the entire contract term. The savings only exist if the monthly fee lands below what you currently pay for power, and that's exactly the calculation we run before proposing anything.

Is the reduction always the same percentage?

Up to 40%, calculated from your system's generation — it varies with the size and characteristics of the comodato system, and isn't a fixed promise for every bill. The number for your case comes in writing, comparing the monthly fee with your current bill, before any contract.

How long is the system under warranty?

For as long as the comodato contract lasts, warranty and maintenance are covered — on us, at no extra cost. That's possible because the equipment belongs to Start during that period: keeping the system generating well is in our own interest.

Who keeps ownership of the utility account (UC) at Neoenergia?

It stays with you — UC ownership never passes to Start. What's in Start's name, for as long as the contract lasts, is the comodato contract and the installed equipment.

What happens if I want to end the contract early?

There's a penalty for early termination: 40% of the project value, prorated by the time remaining to complete 3 years of contract — it isn't a fixed amount that's the same for everyone. The number for your case comes in the contract, before installation.

Can I buy the system after having it on comodato for a while?

Yes, at any point during the contract — you don't need to wait until the end. The discount table is progressive (7% per full year of contract) and the same for every client. If you don't exercise the purchase, the system automatically becomes yours at the end of the 14 years.

Why would I choose comodato instead of buying?

If what's holding you back is the down payment, credit, or tying up capital right now, comodato solves that — no down payment, with maintenance on us. If you already have the funds available and want the asset in your name right away, buying tends to be the better deal. We're happy to help you compare both numbers for your case — see the purchase offer.
